contains the lyrical writing, strong sense of place and beautifully flawed characters that I have now come to expect when reading Harper Fox. The city and settings within are almost characters themselves. Narcotics officer Vince is an engaging narrator, broken on the inside as well as out after an on-the-job injury has taken him out of the field. He meets and is inexplicably drawn to Rowen, a possible witness in a drug related killing. As Rowan reveals his past and his own constant struggle, the two men end up finding solace and support in each other.
